A high rise tailored trouser cut in 100% cotton twill, designed to be worn with a shirt, T shirt or knit tucked into the waistband.

The waist is half elasticated at the back for comfort, with side adjusters and a front waistband extension secured with a double button closure. The leg is straight and tailored, but adjustable hem tabs allow the silhouette to be pulled in and worn more like a barrel leg.

An asymmetric thigh patch pocket gives the front a more utilitarian feel, balanced by two patch and flap pockets at the back.

DESIGNER’S NOTES

The colour was matched as closely as possible to a pair of Gap khakis I bought in the mid 1990s and somehow never forgot.

I wanted the trousers to have that same slightly faded, everyday utility feel, but with a much more considered shape. The high rise and tailored leg make them feel smarter, while the elasticated back waist and adjusters keep them comfortable.

The hem tabs are one of the details I like most because they let you change the proportion completely. Worn open, the leg is straight and clean. Fastened, it pulls into a more rounded barrel shape.
