The Field Parka started life as a smock, taking its first cues from 1980s Royal Navy flight deck smocks, but evolved through development into something more versatile. A double zip front was added for easier wear and layering, shifting it away from the original pull on shape.

Cut in Arrowwood, a vibrant golden yellow that nods to early 1990s technical outerwear, it is lined in contrast khaki onion quilting. Large tilted bellows pockets, lower hand warmer pockets and side zips keep the jacket practical, while the colour gives the military reference a completely different energy.

DESIGNER’S NOTES

This one changed quite a lot through development. It began much closer to a traditional smock, but adding the double zip front made it easier to wear and opened the shape up.

The biggest shift was the colour. Instead of keeping it in a predictable military olive or navy, I wanted something that felt more like the technical jackets I remember from the early 1990s. The Arrowwood yellow gives it that energy, while the khaki quilted lining and hardware keep it grounded in functional outerwear.

I like that contrast between something rooted in naval and military clothing, but pushed somewhere much less expected through colour and proportion.
