The starting point was the classic US deck jacket, but the shape has been reworked into a cleaner, more contemporary cropped silhouette.

Cut in 100% cotton duck canvas, it has a contrast cord undercollar, internal facings and patch pocket, with an onion quilted nylon lining and a fleece back panel for added warmth. A detachable shearling alternative collar gives the jacket a second look without changing its utilitarian character.

A double ended zip sits under the button placket, with a throat tab and adjustable cuff tabs adding further protection when needed.

DESIGNER’S NOTES

The initial reference was the US deck jacket, but I wanted to move it away from a straight reproduction.

The shorter proportion makes it feel more current, while the duck canvas keeps the jacket grounded in proper workwear. Inside, the cord facings, quilted lining and fleece back panel add warmth and texture without making the outside feel over designed.

I also liked the idea of the detachable shearling alternative collar because it changes the character of the jacket quite a lot. Worn without it, it feels cleaner and more utilitarian. With it attached, it becomes much more winter focused.
