Inspired by the quilted liner of a vintage US M65 fishtail parka, the Field Liner is reworked as a stand alone outer layer rather than something designed to sit hidden inside a coat.
It is made in a double face stretch nylon, matte on the outside with a subtle shine on the inside, and mixes linear, diamond and onion stitch quilting across the body. A double front zip, chest tab, patch pockets and side seam zip openings keep the military reference, while ribbed jersey cuffs and a short rib collar make it softer and easier to wear.
Antique brass zips are finished with leather zip pulls, and internal shoulder straps allow the jacket to be carried like a rucksack when not being worn.

DESIGNER’S NOTES
The starting point was the liner from a vintage M65 fishtail parka, but I wanted to treat it as a jacket in its own right rather than as an underlayer.
The mixed quilting gives it more character than a traditional liner, while the double face nylon lets the inside feel considered too. I kept the military details quite straightforward, then added softer rib trims and the side zips so it feels easier and more modern to wear.
The shoulder straps are there for the same reason as on the Hunting Down Jacket. They are a small practical detail that makes a real difference once you are moving between indoors and outside.
